Help Support The American Lung Association

Help Support The American Lung Association

On November 14, 2009, join the Luxx Limo Green Team to climb 32 flights of stairs to the top of the tallest building in Sacramento, The Wells Fargo Center at 400 Capitol Mall, in the “Fight For Air Climb event to help raise money for lung disease research and education for the American Lung Association. The winner of the Climb will also receive a Luxury Limousines limo package as a prize!

Lung disease is the number three killer in America.  The Sacramento area is among the most poorly rated regions in terms of air quality. In the Sacramento Metro area alone, nearly 10 percent of children, suffer from asthma, and more than 105,000 adults suffer as well. The funds we raise for the American Lung Association will pay for programs in our own neighborhoods, specifically targeted at air quality and lung health.

As the only Sacramento area affiliate of Green Ride Global, the world’s leading transportation environmental consulting firm, Luxury Limousines takes the environment and our air quality very seriously. Our team goal is to raise $1,500 for the American Lung Association. Come out and climb with us! It costs $25 dollars to register and then you can either donate or raise $100. It’s that simple. For $125 you can make a difference and challenge yourself to climb the tallest building in Sacramento. If you can’t participate you can still help our team reach our goal –  just go to our website and make a pledge.  Your donation will truly make a difference!

This weekend, both the Napa and Sonoma Valleys have special events.  In Napa, 16 wineries along the famous Silverado Trail will be sampling their newest releases as well as some of their “library” wines.  Small plates will also be served.  Participating wineries include two of our favorites, the Andretti Winery and Sterling Vineyards.  One day passes for this event are only $45.

Over in Sonoma County, 77 wineries will be participating in the 11th Annual Wine & Food Affair known as “Tasting Along the Wine Road”.  For only $40 on Sunday you can taste at such favorites such as Korbel, Twomey Cellars, and Ridge Vineyards.

Looking for something a little closer to home?  Then head north to the Placer Hills Winery Tour that takes place next weekend.  In addition to sampling wines at Fawnridge, you can watch as a stone carver at work while at Lone Buffalo you can sample their brand new dessert wine as well tour the vineyard with winemaker Phil Maddux.  Best of all, Placer wineries are still free!

We are pleased to be the official transportation company of the Beyond Platinum Wedding Show which is being held tomorrow night at Arden Hills Resort Club & Spa.  As the transportation company, we will be chauffeuring attendees from the remote parking area to the show and back.

This wedding show will be like none other in the area.  Rather than concentrate on individual products and services, this show will demonstrate how conceptual ideas such as “Vintage Hollywood” or “European Glamour” can easily be incorporated into your upcoming wedding.

For more informaiton on this one of a kind event click here.   Also if you attend this show, please let us know how you liked it by commenting on this post.

This is one of my favorite times of year!  Football season is well under way (well at least on the far side of the Bay Bridge), I am heading to my first Sharks game on Friday, and as I write this, the Kings are just about to tip off on opening night.

All of these events are perfect for limousine service.  I say this not just because I happen to own a limo company, but because it is true, especially for a fan like me. I use the travel time in the limo to do my bonding or to take care of business.  This leaves me free to actually watch the game once it begins.  I also don’t have to worry if anyone in my party happens to have a little bit to much to drink (which considering we live in the DUI capital of California probably happens more than I realize!).

If you plan on attending a sporting event, gives us a call as we offer special pricing on all sporting events through the end of the year.

Last Wednesday, Twin Soup hosted their second Stiletto Crawl. The sold out event did not disappoint! It was difficult to believe anything could top the first crawl with its “Hot Italians” and bottle service at Mix, but the most recent event provided its own “niche” and a great way to start off the Fall season.  Nearly 75 women converged on The Fountains in Roseville to enjoy quite a few cocktails, plenty of shopping and a lot of stilettos.  Here is a video recapping the evening’s activities (and fashion). (Scroll down below the video for more on the night’s activities).

The evening commenced with a preview of Fall Fashion at Serendipity Boutique. Trends in accessories from large handbags to animal prints were everywhere, along with the “Crawlers” own sense of style. Lots of black, matchstick jeans and sequins were evident (all with the stilettos to match).  Clickety clack, the ladies moved the party to Anthropologie.  A sign and lots of friendly smiles greeted us as shoppers explored Anthro’s romantic prints and bright colors.  But it may be its large rhinestone necklaces and bracelets that captured most people’s eye.  Bling bling is back! But with a more feminine and fashionista approach.

Next stop was Article.  Every girl loves a makeover, and with their brushes and gloss in hand, make-up artists curled lashes and stained lips.  Enchanted images was on site to photograph the finished product.  Smile for the camera ladies! To view the photos and images, click here. A final shopping stop at S.W.A.K. completed any last minute purchases.  The boutique features jeans with amazing stitch details, variety of washes and of course – bling. There was no escaping the rhinestone and sequins (including the bling studded ladies underwear).

Tres Agaves provided the perfect stop to refuel and rest toes.  The usual suspects of chips, salsa and guac were accompanied by top shelf margaritas and the most amazing tacos. The food (and tequila) were enjoyed by all on their outdoor patio.  Despite the previous day’s storm, the weather remained warm with only a slight breeze. One last evening to enjoy a meal under the stars before Winter kicks in.

It was now time to really kick the evening into high gear.  Luxury Limousines pulled up seven of its vehicles from stretch limos to tricked out Hummers to a party bus with its own stripper pole.  Ladies sipped on champagne as they were elegantly and luxuriously driven to Crush 29. Wine and cake were waiting (along with a few gentlemen).  We’d share more with you, but what can we say?  You had to be there. But before the clock struck midnight, all of our lovely stilettos and the feet they belonged to were safely returned back home.

Our group at Bond

Our group at Bond

Budget Travel posted Napa’s “Top 20 Secrets.” Let’s just say we don’t agree with all of them(remember for their #3 that even if you walk between tastings, you still need a means to get to Napa in the first place). Here is the link if you want to decide for yourself.

Yesterday, Luxury Limousines decided to do its own personal Napa research. Joined by Angelina, our wine concierge, Mario from the Firehouse Restaurant, and a few other “wine lovers,”  we set out on a beautiful Wednesday for a day of wine tasting.  We discovered the following:

1.  Load up on a good breakfast!  Our first wine tasting was at 10 AM (not including the champagne for the car ride down). Not a good idea to start on an empty stomach. Pastries from Tower Café go well with J Champagne.

2.  Don’t forget about all the amazing wineries in Napa/Sonoma mountain range. Most Napa visitors, stay on the valley floor, and never explore above sea level. There are a variety of components that affect grapes, including: sun exposure and soil.  Higher altitudes offer more sun exposure and in some locations a volcanic soil that make for a better wine.

3.  Napa is amazing in the Fall! The combination of the mild weather with the leaves changing color, provides the ultimate day excursion.  Bring your camera to photograph the amazing views of the vineyards and the color variety of the leaves before they fall to the ground.  A light jacket or wrap will keep you warm before the morning fog lifts.

4.  Napa/Sonoma offers amazing restaurants, but sometimes the best meal is just a picnic with friends. Stop by Oakville Grocery or Dean & Deluca  and pick up a baguette, some triple cream cheese and slices of pancetta or salami.  Open a bottle of Cabernet or Viognier: maybe brownies or chocolate to finish off the meal.  It will fill you up before your next tasting, as well as save a few dollars in your pocket.  If you book with Luxury Limousines, we can make all the arrangements for you. For example, our group enjoyed a private tour of Bond, a cave tour followed with a beautiful view and picnic spot at Pride MoutainVineyards, and we concluded our day with a quick stop at Barnett Vineyards.

5.  Quality over quantity.  In our busy, multi-tasked lives, we tend to pack as much in as possible in a short time period. Wine tasting shouldn’t be something to check off a list. Trying to hit four, five or even six wineries in one day is near impossible. Schedule two at the most and allow some flexibility for a third. You may decide you hit it off so well with the first winery’s winemaker, that you don’t want to leave. Or you could pass a winery that wasn’t on any maps and decide to check it out. One should take their time to enjoy the wine, let alone the time with friends. Slow down. Breath in the wine. Sip or swig. And just enjoy the moment. You can always come back for more!
